FAQs
1. What is Saccharum Safari Lodge doing for health and COVID safety?
The lodge is taking every precaution to ensure the health and safety of its guests. All our staff are vaccinated. The rooms and guest areas are sanitsed thoroughly on a daily basis, whereas common guest areas are sanitised several times during the day. We have a fully equipped medical kit with a pulse oximeter, among other things, to measure oxygen levels. As a precaution, we also have a spare room to serve as an isolation room if needed.
2. How to get to Saccharum Safari Lodge?
The Lodge and Kanha Tiger Reserve are connected to 2 airports that have flights from all major Indian cities. Raipur is about 200 km (a 4-hour drive) and Nagpur is about 260 km (a 5.5-hour drive) from the lodge. Gondia is the nearest major railway station, 125 km (a 2.5-hour drive) from the lodge.
3. When is the park open?
Kanha Tiger Reserve is open from October 1st to June 30th each year and core area tourism is closed from July 1st to September 30th for the monsoon. The park is closed every Wednesday evening.
4. What is the weather like in Kanha?
Kanha has three distinct seasons: a hot summer, a chilly winter and heavy rain during the monsoon. The cool weather sets in mid-October, with the end of November to early January being the coldest. The warm weather kicks in from mid-March until the monsoons arrive in June. Day and nighttime temperatures tend to vary greatly, with mornings and evenings being pleasant throughout the year. Winter temperatures range from 5 to 20 degrees Celsius and summer temperatures range from 18 to 40 degrees Celsius.
5. How to pack for a safari holiday here?
No matter the weather, it is best to carry full pants and full-sleeved shirts in earth colours, along with sensible walking shoes. These will serve you in the winter and summer and help ward off dust and insects. Since the temperatures between dawn and midday vary a great deal, it is advisable to dress in layers that one can peel off as the sun gets warmer. Hats, caps and sunscreen are a must.
